Finca del Rio
Welcome to our home overlooking the beautiful Guadiaro River valley.
Finca del Rio is an old Andalucian farmhouse which has been reformed into two homes alongside each other. A Casita with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, which is available for rental throughout the year, is situated in the midst of our vineyard.
The original name of the Finca was La Viña de la Iglesia, the Church Vineyard, which has now been replanted with over a thousand Tempranillo and Syrah vines to recreate wine-growing in this area.
We are ten minutes walk from the village of Estacion Cortes de la Frontera also known as La Cañada del Real Tesoro, on the edge of the Grazalema National Park, in the mountains of Andalucia. The village has a station on the pretty single track railway line, described as one of the “Great Little Railways of Europe”, which takes you to Ronda, Granada and also to Madrid, via the terminus at Bobadillo, or down to Gibraltar (via San Roque) and Algeciras.
It is a 45 minute drive to the historic town of Ronda, with its stunning gorge and its a similar time to the coast at Sabanillas, Estepona and Puerto Duquesa. Also nearby are the pueblos blancos of Gaucin, Cortes de la Frontera, Arriate, Benarraba, Genalguacil to name a few.
